“I have always been obsessed with fashion, but I started experimenting with makeup in high school. In about grade 11 I took a course on makeup and that’s when it really peaked my interest, to the point where for a brief moment, I wanted to be a makeup artist. I have always been an artistic person so it became another way to express myself. I loved experimenting with colours, blending and seeing a whole look come together.
ON HER INDUSTRY
Basically I do the financial side of buying for Holt Renfrew – so I set budgets for each season which are sales, gross profit, open to buy, etc. The buying team uses these budgets as a guideline to go into market and buy the product so we can hit all of these targets in season. It’s a fast paced, demanding work environment and always keeps me on my toes! I always wanted to work in fashion, so I took fashion business in school, got a lot of retail experience and worked my way up to get into the company I always wanted to work for.
TOP 2 FAVOURITE BEAUTY PRODUCTS
I would say my Covergirl Lashblast Mascara, my favourite drug store mascara ever, in Blackest Black and my Nars Multipurpose Stick Highlighter in Copacabana. Hands down the best and I pretty much don’t go without either on a daily basis.
I prefer my Covergirl Lashblast to more expensive brands because its not clumpy, it curls my lashes and the tube lasts a long time. I found the fancier ones don’t last as long and I pay triple the price for them and it’s just not worth it to me. Mainly because I like to use multiple of coats of mascara until my eyelashes are just right.

ON FINDING THE RIGHT HIGHLIGHTER
I had a Clinique highlighting pencil but it didn’t blend well enough and it was “too white”. I went to the Nars counter one day to buy a lipstick and then I asked to try the Copacabana highlighter and loved it. Its the perfect shade and I literally wear it every day. On a regular day I put a bit of foundation and bronzer on and then use the highlighter down the centre of my nose, on my cheekbones and up to the brow bone. For a night out I’ll blend it a little with a cream blush. Its very easy to apply and I use my fingers. For the people who have perfect skin they could definitely use it without foundation. However I rarely go a day without foundation or tinted moisturizer so I’ve never actually worn it on its own.

ON WHAT SHE LOVES THE MOST ABOUT MAKEUP
I love that it is such a confidence booster. I always think of makeup as a part of my outfit, it just completes the whole look.”
