ON FASHION AND BEAUTY
“I spent hours upon hours playing with my mother’s makeup as a child – but for me fashion was my first love. I was very particular when it came to my clothing from a very young age. I would kick up a fuss at 2 years old if my parents put me in certain outfits; they swear I would spill things on the clothes I didn’t like on purpose. I was always so fascinated with fashion. My family would travel to the UK a lot growing up and they were always a few seasons ahead of the trends compared to back home. I would go into the clothing stores buy some pieces I was captivated with and people at home would be like “what are you wearing!?” Then a few seasons later they would be in the same thing. I feel like with social media, specifically Instagram and the immediate access we all have to fashion, there isn’t that same trend gap there was years ago. I really enjoy that you can see a trend and can access it immediately.
When it comes to beauty I learned how to really simplify my routine after years of playing around with different products. I have my bread and butter items that I know work for me and I stick with them. I still love to try new things that have lots of hype & great reviews, but I never stray from the products that are good to me. Also now that I’m in my late 20’s I know how important it is to look after your skin! Its like it changed overnight. All of a sudden I had dryness, fine lines, sunspots, ugh! So I am now super disciplined with using great skincare products, keeping my skin and myself hydrated, and applying SPF to my face everyday- rain, snow or shine.
ON HER INTERVIEW WITH THE GRR
I think this blog is such a good idea. I love checking blogs but most of them are very staged and not so realistic. Or they’re like yes I use Crème de la Mer on every inch of my body. Here’s the link its $ 300000 for 1 oz., cheers! I mean, its still fun to look at, but it’s nice to keep it real.
TOP 5 BEAUTY PRODUCTS
I am legit on my 10th bottle of Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Vitamin C Collagen Booster. If you have any puffiness on your face in the morning you put this on and it disappears. I apply it as soon as I get out of the shower, followed by my moisturizer and makeup, everyday. It absorbs into the skin in just a few seconds. I can attest to it getting rid of hangover puffy face /swollen eyes. I realized it the most when I was just recently in New York, and ended up going out and over indulging just a little bit. I woke up and was like ‘Oh my God, I’m going to Bergdorf’s for brunch and I don’t have eyelids’ (did I leave them downtown with my credit card, or?). So I took a shower and came out and looking like I still needed 37 hours of sleep. I put that magical serum on and all the swelling around my eyes went away instantly. This literally absorbs into your skin, takes the swelling down and makes you look rested. As soon as I see my bottle running low I run to Sephora and get a new one to have on hand for when the current bottle in use is finished because I can’t be without it. I swear by it.
My Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo is the ultimate time saver in the morning when I don’t want to shampoo and blow-dry my hair. I had gone through so many different dry shampoos before I found this miracle spray powder. I typically find a lot of dry shampoos either weighed down my hair, or did not blend into my hair properly. Without dry shampoo, I need to wash my hair every other day; with it I can extend it at least another 2 days if I apply it each morning. After 2 days it does start to build up in my hair and it needs a good wash to get all the oil and dry shampoo out to start fresh again. I just picked this up on a whim one day at Sephora about 2 years ago and have stuck with it ever since. It’s lightweight, smells great, absorbs oil quickly, & doesn’t leave the top of my head stark white. I even keep a little can in my purse!
After I moisturize I put on my foundation or tinted moisturizer with a beauty blender, add concealer for under eyes, blush, & contour(I don’t do contour everyday cause I’m lazy, just usually for evenings out & special occasions), I take my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light, get a nice amount of it on a big powder brush and apply it in a circular motion to my whole face. It’s finishes & blends everything. I find it gives skin a nice glow without the shine. I find it acts like a filter on my skin, blurring any imperfections.
My Good On Ya Peppermint Sugar Lip Scrub saved my lips this winter. It’s made by a local company started up by a former employee of mine and her mother. I’ve tried lots of expensive scrubs and nothing has nourished my lips like this! Plus it’s all natural and so delicious.
Every 4 weeks I get a Dermalogica Microzone Facial Treatment done at a cosmetic dermatology centre (which is conveniently located next to my store – so dangerous) called The Landells Clinic. It helps with skin tone, brightening and if I have any little breakouts that might be starting up it makes them disappear overnight. I’m addicted. The treatment is about 30 minutes start to finish. My aesthetician applies medical grade acid to the skin – it’s tingly, but a good its working type tingle and not painful at all. Once that’s removed a nice soothing skin mask is applied to my face, which removes any tingle you may have left. To finish they load your skin up with yummy oils and sunscreen and you leave the clinic glowing. The nice thing about these is that they aren’t as intense as a chemical peel so there is no downtime afterwards, no flaking, they’re super affordable, and you can apply makeup immediately. They’re ideal for if you have an event to go to the evening of the treatment or day after because your skin really does glow and look brighter.”
