BEAUTY INTERVIEW: Top 5 With Erin Elizabeth

by ANEEKA WARD

ERIN ELIZABETH, 26 YEARS OLD, Graphic Designer / Life & Style Blogger

Ottawa, Ontario

ON FASHION AND BEAUTY

“I love fashion and beauty but I also do love days where I put zero effort into my looks. During the week I usually keep my makeup much more minimal, and then I will experiment more on the weekends when I have more time. As for fashion, I have always to put together outfits the night before and I quite enjoy doing that. I find my fashion and beauty inspiration from all over. Usually I draw inspiration when I’m out and about and I see how people put themselves together; I love to people watch. I also get a lot of inspiration from Pinterest and celebrities!

ON HER LIFESTYLE BLOG

I use my blog as a way to share my own personal style, experiences, and tips & tricks with like-minded individuals, while hopefully inspiring some along the way. Blogging has always been something I wanted to do but never really knew how to start. I realized after doing a bit of research that some people used social media, like Instagram, to break into the blogging world. So I started off with an Instagram account and then built my online blog around it.

My Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation looks amazing on camera. Before I found this foundation, I had tried a ton of different drug store foundations and high-end products. The biggest issue for me with most foundations is that they can make my skin feel quite oily. Since the last foundation I used wasn’t cutting it, I needed to find something new. Whenever I’m ready to try out a new foundation, I do what anyone else does – I search the web! I looked through a ton of different reviews and beauty blogs, and found this foundation was always a favourite so I thought I would give it a go. I love how light and blendable this foundation is. It takes about 2 or 3 pumps of product to cover my entire face with my beauty blender. I used to wear it every single day but I’m now trying to wear less makeup during the week, so I’ll only really use this foundation on the weekends or if I’m going out. It is fairly lightweight with pretty good coverage and is really easy to add more layers if needed without getting cakey. When I was wearing it everyday one container would last a couple of months, but now it is lasting me about 6 months or so now that I only wear it a few times a week.

I am so happy with my Sephora Eye Primer. It keeps my eyeshadow in place and pigmented for long periods of time. Prior to using a primer my eyeshadow would fade throughout the day or just completely come off altogether. I decided one day that I wanted to try out an eye primer, but didn’t want to spend a lot of money on one. So, I decided to choose the Sephora brand solely because of its price point. To use it, I take a small amount of the primer on my finger and apply it to the lids and outer corner of my eye. Once it is set I apply eye shadow over top. I can’t compare it to anything else, but it really works for me.

Just like foundations, I have tried basically every single drugstore mascara there is. L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara is the one mascara that I always go back to and is definitely my favourite. I use this mascara every single day. I think its like 11 or 12$ at the drugstore – I love a great product for a good price! Its formula is just right. I’m not a fan of mascaras that are too liquid, because they tend to flatten out my lashes after I curl them. It’s so messy to have to try and fix lashes that have clumped together with bad mascara. I love how it sits on my eyelashes and how long it makes them look. It really fills them out if you apply a few coats. I’ve gotten many compliments on my lashes with this mascara!

If you asked me what I love the most about my Blonde Brilliance Lathering Toner, I would say, everything! I discovered this toner while I was researching how to get my hair to a silvery blonde colour without having to pay a million dollars. I scoured the entire Internet and then finally came across this toner. There were a ton of great reviews with a lot of girls saying this was the best toner they have ever tried at home, so I had to buy it. This product is great for keeping my blonde hair ashy and helping to cancel out any golden blonde. I love how fast and easy it is to use, not to mention, the price is amazing! To use, I will first shampoo and rinse my hair, then I will use the toner. I lather the toner in my hair and usually leave it to soak on my head for about 5 minutes, and then I will rinse it out and condition. When I was obsessed with having that super ashy colour I would use this every time I washed my hair. Now I just use it once a week to freshen up my locks.

I did a review for NuMe’s White Truffle line back in May, and NuMe’s White Truffle Hair Serum was my absolute favourite product from the collection. This serum is seriously amazing. My hair has become extremely dry and damaged from being so blonde for so long, and this product makes it feel soft and silky. I now use this product every single time I wash my hair! I take a dime-sized amount of serum and apply it to freshly washed and dried hair. I start with my ends and will work my way up the head with whatever is left over. This combats hair dryness by keeping it moisturized. This serum is now an essential part of my hair care routine. I had never used a serum before but I will always use one from now on. I’ve had such great results with this product that I want to try anything and everything else out there for my hair!”
