ON HER BEAUTY PRIORITIES
“Skincare, particularly keeping my skin hydrated with quality products, is my number one beauty priority above all else. I religiously cleanse and moisturize my skin morning and night and swear by Ole Henriksen’s Sheer Transformation Moisturizer. I believe that one should invest time in finding products that are most compatible with their skin type. I have had super sensitive skin ever since I was young. I have since learned to always research any product and their ingredients before putting them on my face, as I know I may pay the price otherwise.
ON HER FAVOURITE PARTS OF MAKEUP AND BEAUTY
The thing I enjoy most about makeup and beauty is its constant evolution. I enjoy learning and trying new looks and techniques that appeal to me or catch my eye. Following beauty and makeup blogs on Instagram is a great way for me to stay up to date on the latest trends. The best piece of beauty advice I have ever received is to be you and be confident.
TOP 5 BEAUTY PRODUCTS
I have sensitive combination skin, dry but occasionally oily, and have been sadly misled several times about which products to use. I was convinced one day to try Ole Henriksen’s Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer by a Sephora employee who swore by it, and I finally found something that agreed with my skin right away. This moisturizer never leaves my face feeling oily or greasy, it absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling hydrated and smooth. I use it twice a day, in the morning before I apply my makeup and at night after I take it off. The amount I use depends on how dry my skin is feeling. Normally a pea sized amount is enough to evenly apply all over my face and a 50ml container usually lasts me 2-3 months. I love that that you don’t need to use a lot of this product to get the hydration you want. I also like the fact it is not strongly scented because my skin usually reacts badly to those kinds of products.
I swear by Davines This Is A Dry Texturizer. I was introduced to this product at the Ottawa salon, Hair by Adamo, where I get my hair done. Since I don’t have naturally thick hair, I instantly fell in love with it after I saw the texture and volume it gave me. I now rely on this product daily to make my hair look full, voluminous, and to achieve that messy undone look. I spray this product at my roots to get maximum volume after I style my hair but before using hairspray. I’ll usually use the Davines hairspray if I am going out and want some extra hold. I love this texturizer because it doesn’t weigh your hair down or make it greasy, plus the smell of it is super refreshing. I believe the $35 I pay for a 250ml bottle to be a very reasonable price, especially when you take into account Davines is a high-end line. I have tried many of their products and none of them disappoint.
I have been using Victoria’s Secret Shea Weightless Body Oil for about a year now and absolutely love it. I apply it all over my body after showering and find leaves my skin super smooth and nourished for days. As it is oil, you don’t need a lot of it to evenly apply it everywhere. I have had the same 250ml, $18 bottle for 2 months now and still have enough to last me a couple more months. I absolutely adore the smell of it. It is not overwhelming and I always get compliments from people around me on the scent.
Ever since I started using Stila’s Lush Lips Water Plumping Primer I have noticed my lipstick stays on longer and looks better; plus, my lips look fuller and hydrated. I apply a thin layer of this product right before I apply my lipstick. I find if I put too much it takes longer to dry which can be a little annoying. I love how after using this primer, my lips feel conditioned and ready for any kind of colour application. I bought this primer for $27.00 at Sephora and I think it definitely gives great value for the price considering all its benefits. I am currently 2 months into my first bottle.
I love Saje’s Zap Blend For Acne Prone Skin. It’s an all-natural blemish treatment that works brilliantly on the start of a newly forming pimple. It is a roll on blend of essential oils, so all I need to do it roll it over the area once or twice, or really as many times as I want, and I instantly feel the blemish start to shrink. One bottle lasts me about 6 months, and at $20 it is definitely worth the price for me.”
