ON HER FIRST MAKEUP MEMORIES
“As a small child, I remember watching my mom using her MAC concealer and always trying to get her to put some on me. After a year of me continuously asking, she got me my first concealer paint pot – you could say my love affair with makeup was history from there. When I turned 14 years old I started my own YouTube channel where I filmed makeup related videos such as my weekend makeup routine and 5 minute get ready with me’s.
ON HER FAVOURITE PARTS OF MAKEUP & BEAUTY
What I love most about beauty is the fact that you are both the canvas and the artist. Personally, I think makeup has no rules. It gives you the opportunity to express yourself however you want. If you want to do your makeup exactly the same or make yourself look different every day, it’s your choice!
ON THE ONE THING SHE CAN’T LEAVE HER HOUSE WITHOUT
The one thing I can’t leave the house without is lipgloss. I find that a little bit of lip gloss makes me look totally put together, even if I’m fresh faced with zero makeup.
TOP 5 BEAUTY PRODUCTS
I was originally introduced to Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir by a friend who used it as a post-baking setting spray. Personally, I don’t love it as a setting spray but I do love to use this product to refresh either a bare or made up face during the day as a little pick me up. This elixir has a very distinguished smell of citrus essential oils, so I would definitely recommend smelling this product before purchasing in case you are picky with smells. To use this product I hold the bottle approximately 6 inches away from my face and mist 3-4 sprays. I probably use this product about four to five times a week and a little bottle lasts me about three months. Depending on how frequently you use it, you could definitely get upwards of six months of use per small bottle.
I first came across Sol de Janeiro’s Brazilian Bum Bum Cream after my sister received it as a gift. It smelled so incredible that my mom went out and bought two tubs of it! This cream is supposed to firm up your bum-bum while eliminating cellulite and stretch marks. In all honesty, though, it smells so good that I use it as a full body moisturizer after showering and/or whenever my skin is looking a little dry. This product is super nourishing and keeps my skin well hydrated all day. This cream comes in two container sizes. I would recommend the small container if you’re just using it as a hand cream and the larger size if you intended to use it as a full body moisturizer. It’s definitely worth the money.
I love dark lipsticks. So when I came across Lime Crime’s Velvetines Liquid Matte Lipstick in the dark brown shade ‘Salem’ at Urban Outfitters, I had to buy it. I don’t wear it that often but every time I do I’m reminded of how much I love it. This lipstick goes on super smooth, is very long lasting and isn’t very drying. I love that I don’t have to always reapply it. Lime Crime is not the easiest brand to come across, so when I see it at Urban Outfitters I make sure to stock up, but I know it is possible to order this brand online from their website.
I’ve been using Too Faced’s coconut water infused Hangover Rx Primer for a while now. I love this primer because I find it to be very light, refreshing, and most importantly moisturizing. I only use it when I’m wearing foundation, which is usually about three times a week. Three pumps of this product will cover my entire face and will keep my makeup on upwards of 8 hours. Even though this primer costs forty dollars for the full size, I do think it’s worth the price and I have repurchased it twice so far.
After being told by my sister that the white residue left on my favourite falsies, Ardell Wispies, looked horrible, I knew moving forward that Duo’s Black Eyelash Glue could be my only option. I prefer black eyelash glue to white because it dries black, hides glue residue and blends with dark coloured lashes better. You can find both white and black Duo Eyelash Glute at Shoppers Drug Mart. Ardell’s Wispies are my go-to lashes because of how easy they are to apply and because they have a thin enough band that allows you to easily cut and shape them to your eyes. I usually get around 5-6 wears out of a pair before they start to get run down and get glue build up. These lashes are super easy to find. They are available at Walmart, Sally Beauty Supply, and sometimes you can even get lucky and find them on sale Winners. I have tried many other lash brands at a variety of price points but I always end up back with Wispies. If you want a bit more drama, Ardell’s Double Wispies are also worth checking out.”
